Spacewood Kitchen Durability is the key !

Spacewood Presents

Supertuff HDF Kitchen Wardrobe material of future

  • Spacewood believes in de-mystifying processes and delivering greater value to customer. This extends to materials which are at the heart of any manufacturing, especially manufacturing of modular kitchens and wardrobes.
  • The industry in kitchen and wardrobes is used to deploying plywood owing to its better resistance to water. However, one has to ask what about strength, density, or even joining attributes like screw withdrawal and glue adherence?
  • If we can get water resistance plus all the above characteristics in one material, shouldn’t we consider it?
  • Well, Supertuff HDF (High Density Fiber) seems to be the one-stop answer to all the above. It outperforms ply and MDF by a significant margin on all counts. Besides, the extra cost is more than compensated for by the 10-year guarantee offered by Spacewood on all its HDF products.
  • With gradual industry adoption the costs look like they would move southwards on this material. Thus, the customer enjoys better durability and consequently more reliability on the kitchen and wardrobe products.
  • So, is Supertuff HDF the kitchen and wardrobe material of the future? Well, at least for now it is!

Density

  • Density :

Density is a physical property of matter as each element compound & unique density associated with it. Density defined in a quantitative manner as the measure of relative “heaviness “ of object with a constant volume.

    Density = WEIGHT / VOLUME

  • Effect :

Absorb more water if density is less. as it will be more porous.

1 Features Strength
2 Properties Density
3 SUPERTUFF HDF 800 KG/M3
4 STD MDF 700 KG/M3
5 BWR Plywood 600 KG/M3

M.O.R. Test

  • Purpose :

    To verify stiffness of board.

  • Test :

    M. O. R. (Modulus of Rupture)

It is a point at which board breaks after putting load.

  • Scope :

Verify breaking property of boards & to measure board bending strength.

If MOR is less, then bending strength will be less.

  • Effect :

If MOR is less, board can break easily as wood will be brittle and dry.

On impact board will break easily.

1 Features M. O. R
2 SUPERTUFF HDF 32 N/MM2
3 Properties Stiffness of Board
4 STD MDF 29 N/MM2
5 BWR Plywood 27 N/MM2

M.O.E. Test

  • Purpose :

    To verify stiffness of board.

  • Test :

    M.O.E. (Modulus Of Elasticity)

Recovery of shape on removal of load.

  • Scope :

Verify bending property of boards & to ensure boards ability to resist bending.

  • Effect :

If MOE is more, deflection will be less. Hence warpage will be less.

1 Features M. O. E.
2 Properties Elasticity of Boardd
3 SUPERTUFF HDF 3140 N/MM2
4 STD MDF 3042 N/MM2
5 BWR Plywood 2700 N/MM2

Internal Bonding Test

  • Purpose :

To verify the glue bonding strength.

  • Test :

    IB (Internal Bonding)

  • Scope :

Verify internal bonding property of boards & to ensure resistance of board material when pulled apart parallel to its surface.

  • Effect :

If glue bonding is less then glue content in board will be less. Hence board will become porous resulting water absorption will be more and screw withdrawal will be less.

1 Features Internal Bonding
2 Properties Glue Bonding Strength
3 SUPERTUFF HDF 1.01 N/MM2
4 STD MDF 0.75 N/MM2
5 BWR Plywood 0.55 N/MM2

Screw Withdrawal Test

  • Purpose :

    To verify screw holding strength.

  • Test :

    Screw Withdrawal.

  • Scope :

Verify screw withdrawal property of boards & to ensure resistance of board material to direct screw withdrawal of screw on face & edges of board.

  • Effect :

If screw holding is less then joinery fitting & compactness will be poor.

1 Features Internal Bonding
2 Properties Face / Edge
3 SUPERTUFF HDF 2177 N / 1716 N
4 STD MDF 1500 N / 1345 N
5 BWR Plywood 2000 N / 1200 N

Water Swelling Test

  • Purpose :

To verify the resistance of water swelling.

  • Test :

    Water Swelling Test.

  • Scope :

To verify the determination of water absorption of board.

  • Effect :

If water absorption is more then the product will susceptible to fungus & rot attack.

1 Features Waterproof
2 Properties Water Swelling 24Hrs
3 SUPERTUFF HDF NIL
4 STD MDF 5%
5 BWR Plywood NIL

Load Test

  • Purpose :

To verify the ability of worktop or its components to Withstand load test.

  • Test :

    Load Test.

  • Scope :

    Ability to withstand load test.

  • Effect :

If load bearing capacity is less, then board tends to sagging.

1 Features Load
2 Properties Deflection with 20Kg Load
3 SUPERTUFF HDF 1.8 MM
4 STD MDF 2.1 MM
5 BWR Plywood 2.6 MM

KITCHEN

DURABILITY IS THE KEY !

Kitchens are usually considered to be a part of fixed furniture. Though modular in nature, however, modules when come together and are fixed with counter top - it takes nature of permanence. Making a kitchen involves plumbing, electrical, tiling, painting - all of them arising the need for precision setting and engineering to not repeat the process again. Thus, the decision of making a kitchen revolves around the prime factor of durability.

We at Spacewood, acknowledge this and are determined to provide our customers not just a beautiful functional kitchen - but also one that lasts really long.

A modular kitchen consists of 3 main components :

In order to make a durable kitchen, it is important to use the right combination of all its components individually as well as collectively.

Supertuff HDF is also used for shutters in various finishes such as PU paint, foil, acrylic, glass, laminates etc. - all of which are tested against abrasion, UV rays, and color stability. The edge banding similar to carcase makes the shutters everlasting.

We offer carcase in Supertuff HMR HDF, that is edge banded with PUR. The Supertuff* HDF, an introduction from Spacewood has high water resistivity, high density of 800kg/m3 (higher than plywood), high screw holding properties and termite resistance due to melamine lamination. The entire carcass in Supertuff HDF is then pressed on a high frequency with high-quality strong glues that allow perfect alignment and makes the joints strong and permanent. Thus, we are committed to a 10 yr warranty.

At Spacewood, we use high-quality fittings from Germany and Italy from leading suppliers such as Blum, Kessebohmer, Hettich etc. All the fittings are further tested to last a lifetime with an approximate estimation of 80,000 cycles.

The kitchens are assembled in entirety on automatic lines, presses using pneumatic guns that stabilizes all the joints and aligns precisely.

It’s only evident that Spacewood kitchens - are your kitchens for life. A 10 yr warranty, lifetime services and expertise of Spacewood over 2 decades gives a kitchen it’s true worth.
